• Your photos are private and used only to make the products you ordered.
• We never see or store your full card number — Stripe handles payments.

Who we are

Letter From My Dog is an online, digital-only brand that creates personalized dog keepsakes and publishes a magazine for dog lovers. You can reach us by email at [email protected] or, for anything about your order or your data, [email protected].

What we collect and why

Your answers about your dog

The free experience asks six questions: your dog’s name (and, if you like, their age and pronoun), what they do when you come home, one funny or weird habit, what gets them excited, a memory you never want to forget and what they would thank you for. You can also tell us what your dog should call you, such as Mom, Dad, My Human or your first name.

Your answers are saved in your own browser (using localStorage) so you don’t lose your place. When you ask for your free result, they are sent to our server to generate it. We only store your answers on our servers when you start checkout, because that is when we create your private project so your keepsake can be made and re-downloaded later.

Your email address

We ask for your email when you start checkout. We use it to send your receipt and the private link to your keepsake, and to reply if you contact us about your order.

Your photos

Photos are only needed for the storybook (one photo of your dog and one of you) and the poster pack (one photo of your dog). The free result and the letter don’t use photos. See how we protect your photos below.

Payment information

Payments are processed by Stripe. You enter your card details on Stripe’s secure checkout, and we never see or store your full card number. We receive order details from Stripe, such as the product, amount, date, email and whether the payment succeeded.

Basic technical information

Like any website, our servers receive standard technical information when you visit. We also limit how often certain requests can be made, to protect the service from abuse.

Anonymous analytics

We use our own first-party analytics to understand how the site is used. It records anonymous event names (for example landing_view or quiz_start), the page path and campaign parameters in the link you arrived from (UTM tags). No dog names, memories, answers, emails, photos or letters are ever sent to analytics.

How we use your information

• To generate your free result and letter preview.
• To create, deliver and let you re-download the keepsakes you buy.
• To process payments and keep order records.
• To answer your emails and help with support, refunds and deletion requests.
• To keep the site secure and working well.

We don’t sell your personal information, and we don’t use it for advertising.

How AI is used

Your keepsakes are created from the details you share, with the help of generative AI. To do that, the relevant details are sent to AI providers:

• Text (your result, letter and storybook story) is written with Google Gemini models.
• Images (storybook illustrations and posters) are generated with Google Gemini image models and/or fal.ai.

We send these providers only what is needed to create your result or your order. We never use your photos to train AI models.

How we protect your photos

• Your photos are used only to generate the products you ordered.
• They are never published, never shown in a public gallery and never used in our marketing.
• We never use them to train AI models.
• Before upload, your browser re-encodes each photo, which strips hidden metadata such as EXIF and location data.
• Photos are kept in private Cloudflare R2 storage and are only accessible through your private keepsake link.
• We aim to delete uploaded reference photos automatically 90 days after your storybook or posters are completed.

When you upload a photo, you confirm you have permission to use it. If a child appears in a photo, the illustrations we create stay family-friendly.

Your private keepsake page

After purchase, your keepsakes live on a private page at /my-keepsake/, reached through a link containing a long, unguessable token. The page is hidden from search engines. Anyone who has the link can open it, so please share it only with people you trust.

Cookies and browser storage

We don’t use advertising cookies or third-party trackers. We use your browser’s localStorage to remember your quiz answers and the campaign (UTM) parameters from the first link that brought you to us. You can clear this at any time in your browser settings.

Stripe’s checkout page is operated by Stripe and is covered by Stripe’s own privacy policy.

Who helps us run the service

We rely on a small number of trusted providers, who process data on our behalf:

• Cloudflare — website hosting, database (D1), private file storage (R2) and rate limiting (KV).
• Stripe — payment processing.
• Google (Gemini) — AI text and image generation.
• fal.ai — AI image generation.

These providers may process data in countries other than the one you live in. We only share what each provider needs to do its job.

How long we keep your data

• Project data and generated files are kept so you can come back and re-download your keepsakes, until you ask us to delete them.
• Uploaded reference photos: we aim to delete them automatically 90 days after your storybook or posters are completed.
• Order records (amount, date, email and product) are kept as required for tax, accounting and legal reasons, even after other data is deleted.
• Answers you never took to checkout stay only in your browser until you clear them.

Your choices and rights

You can ask us to delete your photos, generated files and personalization data at any time. Use the delete option on your keepsake page, or email [email protected] with your keepsake link.

Depending on where you live, you may also have the right to access, correct or receive a copy of your personal information, or to object to how it is used. Email us and we will help. Please don’t include card numbers or passwords in your message.

Children

Our service is intended for dog owners and gift-givers, not for children to use on their own. If a child appears in a photo you upload, you confirm you have permission to use it, and the illustrations we create stay family-friendly.

Security

We use private storage, unguessable links, encrypted connections and request limits to protect your information. No online service can promise perfect security, but we work to keep your data safe and to collect as little as we need.

Changes to this policy

If we change how we handle your information, we will update this page and the “Last updated” date above.
